Upholding a legend’s legacy isn’t always easy… but that isn’t the case for this 1 of 1 spec, MSO painted McLaren Senna.

Directly paying homage to the iconic championship-winning McLaren MP4/4, etching its place as a modern rendition of one of the most successful Formula One car designs of all time, this 2019 McLaren Senna stands as a testament to Ayrton Senna's indomitable spirit and unwavering pursuit of perfection. As this model is named after the legendary Formula One driver, this specific chassis, No. 496, proudly bears Senna's iconic painted racing number 12, a poignant reminder of the legacy it carries.

Meticulously crafted by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) to be painted in the evocative 1988 Marlboro livery, this vehicle serves as the only road going example from the factory known to pay homage to Senna's first Formula One Championship winning car - a true one of one, and perhaps the ultimate collector grade McLaren Senna for discerning connoisseurs.

The single owner of chassis No. 496 determinedly fought against McLaren themselves to ensure this vehicle was not optioned with the lower door gorilla glass but instead with carbon inserts, honoring McLaren's true racing spirit in weight savings. This exquisite and tasteful decision has provided a handsome return in additional exclusivity, as only six total examples have ever been known to be optioned without lower door gorilla glass. A trait only later shared with Senna LMs and GTR LMs.

The Ultimate McLaren

Unveiled at the 88th Geneva Motor Show, the McLaren Senna was announced as the third installment of their Ultimate Series, and named after the Brazilian Formula One race driver Ayrton Senna (1960–1994), honouring and giving tribute to his success with the McLaren Formula One Team between 1988 and 1993 Formula 1 seasons. Senna won three Formula One World Drivers' Championship titles and thirty-five Formula One Grand Prix race wins with the team, his illustrious career ending tragically short due to a fatal accident while leading the race at the 1994 Imola Grand Prix.

Not only is Senna considered by many to be the greatest Formula One driver of all time, but his charitable contributions, especially to the poor youth of Brazil, have made him a national treasure and global icon.

A Sporting Legend

Rightfully so, when McLaren announced that its next Ultimate Series car would be named after Senna, the automotive world knew it surely had to be special. Featuring McLaren's most powerful internal combustion engine to date for a road car, a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine making 789 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, the Senna was the most powerful McLaren ever built with the exception of the hybrid P1. It has a 0 to 62 mph time of 2.8 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 211 mph, making the Senna surely one of the greatest track focused cars to ever be built for the road. Only 500 unites were produced, with each vehicle taking 300 hours to be built.

Yet, it is the engineering marvel that lies beneath the surface that truly sets the McLaren Senna apart. The Monocage III chassis, a masterpiece of carbon fiber technology, pays homage to McLaren's storied history in Formula 1 with ambitions taken to another level starting with their famed MP4/1 – the first carbon fiber F1 car. With a dry weight of only a mere 1,198kg (2641 lbs), this Senna stands as the lightest road vehicle McLaren has crafted since the iconic McLaren F1.

With a mere 182 miles on the odometer, this exemplar is a rarity among rarities, a pristine jewel in the annals of automotive history. Every inch of this marvel exudes precision and purpose, from its sleek Black Alcantara interior to the gleaming 4.0L V8 Twin Turbo engine that propels it forward. The Automatic D/C (7 Speed) transmission ensures seamless shifts, while the track-ready Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires and lightweight 9-spoke black wheels promise an unparalleled driving experience.

Matte carbon fiber accents trace a path from the door panels to the steering wheel, a tactile testament to McLaren's dedication to lightweight engineering. The interior boasts striking
3-point red seatbelts and 6-point harnesses, underscoring the commitment to both
safety and style.

As you take command of the driver-focused cockpit, you'll feel the synergy of engineering and artistry. The rear wing, constructed with carbon fiber, supports over 100 times its own weight in downforce, a testament to McLaren's commitment to aerodynamic precision. Active front and rear aerodynamics ensure up to 800kg (1,764 pounds) of downforce, firmly anchoring the Senna to the asphalt.

Acquiring this McLaren Senna is more than a purchase - it's an invitation to become part of a legacy forged on the race tracks of history. Ayrton Senna's spirit lives on in every curve and contour of this masterpiece, and as the next custodian, you'll carry forward the torch of excellence that defines both McLaren and its namesake. This is your opportunity to own not just a car, but an icon reborn for the modern era. Embrace the legend…. embrace the McLaren Senna.
